I was walking around Sheung Wan for lunch, lots of people were crowded together, this time it was a drama’s shooting for the main broadcaster of Hong Kong : TVB. According to my colleague, the actors were former Miss Hong Kong and a DJ.
Drama in Hong Kong are very famous, during dinner time lot of people are watching these dramas. Watching the other building of my residence, I was able to see that the light halo from everyone’s appartment was the same; when there was a big white flash it was obvious that most of my neighbours were enjoying the same program !!
One of the most useful shop in Hong Kong, you can do whatever you want there, almost…
Recharging your octopus, buy food/drinks/medecine/magazine, prepare your own hot dog, order your breakfast, etc… and 7/7 24/24…
Here is one website very useful, even if I’m french and I was living very close to Paris, I had the bad surprise to pay a lot to do a very short journey 2 years ago
With Taxi Meter, I would have been aware that I will be screwed and if neither you nor the taxi driver knows the directions (I had to give the driver the directions even with his GPS…) you can have a look and advise…
The downturn, right now there is only major cities, Hong Kong is still not available; and for example in Shanghai you don’t need it, even of the driver makes three times the round of the city it will still be cheap !!!
When I was working in a web agency in Shanghai, I met very good designers. Western people always say that chinese don’t have so much imagination, but it’s wrong.
Here is an example
Because I’m working in HK, I need to apply for an ID.
After making an appointment online, I went to the immigration office, and I was really surprised by the efficiency of the government staff.
You just have to come with your passport then take a ticket and wait for your number to be called while you fill in a document. After 15 minutes, I had to see an clerk, she took my picture and my thumbs’ print. Then wait again for few minutes, meet an officer to check your name and thumb’s print that told me to come back in 2 weeks to get my new ID.
After two weeks, you just need to show up, and in 5 minutes you get out of the Immagration tower with your new ID.
In France where I come from, it will take you 3 weeks (and maybe even more…) and lot of administrative paper to do it…….
Someone told me that last year, the HK government re-new their ID for their entire population, in only one year…. Try to do this in France!!!!

Back from Malaysia, I was able to enjoy the new Eco class on a A330 of Cathay Pacific.
It’s much better than their 777… For me the first point it’s that you have much more space for your legs, I still have 5 cm left after seating !!!
Also the Video On Demand system was “almost” perfect, you have a selection of more than 100 movies, TV series, documentary, etc….. During a 3H30 journey, you don’t know what to choose…
But their system crash 2 times ![]()
During the reboot of their machine, I was surprised to see that it is using a Red Hat linux distribution to make it work.

Always wash your chopsticks (with tea) before starting to eat…

It’s been now almost 4 months I’m in HK, and it rains only few times.
Every morning the sky is blue like in the picture, it’s better than vitamin to have a good mood.
But it seems that in April/May…. it can rain for weeks
